NOTD: OPI Blues

Hi ladies!

For weddings, you need something blue. So fingers and tootises it is!

I was a bit pissed off with my manicure cos, despite paying extra for OPI products to be used, my manicure was bubbly. (@.@)

It happens to the best of us but should not when we get it professionally done. But it was cheaper than my usual place. And you know, peanuts, monkeys.

But this is OPI's ??????. I forgot to get the name. Anyone can help? It's a pretty dusky blue but a bit meh. I'm not screaming I want. The lady at the shop used 2 coats and yes, she did paint alllllll the way to the cuticles. Thus why its peeling a bit at the top. This is 4 days old.

Now, OPI's Yoga-ta get this blue? Preeeeeeeeeeeeetty! I adore the mirco silver glitter in it. It really adds depth to this lovely navy. 4 days old as well. My other foot has a chip but that's my own fault for wanting to greet tables that way.

Colours for Spring!

Spring has sprung and are you as stoked as I am? I’m not one to adopt every single trend but this season, I’m a follower. Leave the dreariness of Winter behind you and embrace colour. 

After watching the Spring runway shows, a few colours and finishes keep reappearing. I give you the 5 MUST-HAVE colours for Spring 2011.

Chanel Riva

Blue, like a robin egg. This bright pop of colour works well with long or short nails. Dark gloomy blues are forbidden! We want to channel the feeling of Easter eggs all ready to be unwrapped and devoured. Great options include China Glaze in For Audrey and Chanel in Riva. 

Peach or Persimmon. This delicious colour is suitable for all skin tones! They work especially well when used for a pedicure. To get all dolled up, I recommend Revlon in Siren, China Glaze in Life Preserver or OPI in Hot & Spicy.

 Purple. Every imaginable shade was seen on the runway, although a lighter lilac would be more appropriate for the office as compared to indigo.  A great lilac would be YSL nail polish in Mauve Silk or Deborah Lippmann in Constant Craving. Darker options include OPI in Plugged-In Plum or RGB in Deep. Warning: If you choose to wear the darker purples, please cut your nails. Long talons look witch-like and scary.

Gray. I would declare that dusty gray is THE colour to have this season. I love it and I have been sporting it practically every other day. I am obsessed with Essie in Sew Psyched.  Other excellent options include China Glaze in Magical Romantique, Deborah Lippmann in Waking up in Vegas and Manglaze in Fuggen’ Ugly which is a matte gray.

Any crackle nail polish topcoat. Not technically a colour but still hot. Just be sure to use contrasting colours so that it pops! Good combinations include (base colour/crackle), pink/black. Blue/yellow. Red/gray. Purple/white.  In the Serena Williams and Katy Perry’s OPI collaboration, there is a crackle nail polish called Black Shatter. Canmake and Mia Secret have a whole range of different colours. Link here for polishes that can be brought online.

Elianto Dark Sea Green No. 30

Hello ladies!

I love jellies. They are my favorite finish. Yummy.


It's a lot more blue than green. In the dark it looks blue. But in the light it is more green.

Still, very YUMMY!

NOTD: Some Brand I got in Bali

Hi ladies!

Nothing is more liberating then a new hair cut and colour.

And of course, some seafood.

 Salted egg crab.

 Frogs fried with ginger and onions. Yummy.

Chilli crab. Classic singaporean dish.

Pork ribs cooked with a rich coffee sauce.

The aftermath. Muah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Note how the crabs were sucked clean.

This polish I got in Bali for Rp 6000. Which is about 80cents in Singapore. It was watery, streaky and hard to control. But its a lovely sky blue and I would use it again.

And since I have a tan, I can finally use coral nail polish! This was a cheap brandless $1 nailpolish I found. It was chunky and the brush was a nightmare. This is 4 coats. Top photo with flash, bottom without flash.

BTW: Bali does not look like how it does in Eat, Pray, Love. You know the scene where Julia Roberts is cycling in among the monkeys? To get there in Ubud, you must climb down A LOT OF STAIRS. There is no way you could cycle then. But then again, what do i know compared to Hollywood? And Bali ain't that clean. And everybody smokes everywhere.

NOTD: Updated Electric Blue

I tried doing some nail art. Hmmmm... I don't know what to think about this. It's a bit streaky but I did take the picture while my nails were wet. With flash.

And I know the season is wrong but I figured the blue would be a perfect Xmas manicure in the future. So I tried and it turned out pretty cool. But I'm months too early!

NOTD: Skinfood Electric Blue

Hi ladies!

2 careful coats. The formula is smooth. But it did stain abit.

Both were taken in the light and without flash. For some reason, my paws looked pink in the second picture.

Taken with flash. This is the best representation of how blue it really is. I shudder about the cleanup later. I smell smurf hands.

NOTD: Mac and Matt

Hi ladies!

So LA Alpine white (It's my all time fave white now. I need a backup bottle). It's white in 2 coats and you can make it shiny! And my lust item Mac's Blue India. I have had the bottle for ages but I finally did a manicure with it today.

Matt Alpine white: 2 coats. Mac Blue India: 2 coats. although 3 would have been better.

The sun is out! So i rushed out and took pics before my clean up. Opps. Anyway, I love the colour of the Mac Blue India. It's even better in real life. A dusky blue. But I wasn't too happy with application. It was a bit bubbly. And if you do a close up, you can see the bubbles and streaks. It's not my top coat. *sigh* But I love it so much.

My nails are Monets. Far from good, good from far. Geddit? Yeah, geddit? You don't? Oh well.

My workstation today was in the living room, much to my Mom's disgust. I have a day off cos it's a school holiday! Yeah for being a teacher!

NOTD: Sunny Skies Ahead

Blue skies ahead! I know in some parts of the world, summer is winding down. And my pals down under are freezing! ^.^ So here's a sunny manicure to  brighten anyone's day.

I used 2 coats of a Rainbow blue. And then my paints for the clouds, birds and sun. I think I might do sheep next.

And another random Japanese thing I got!

Woolen face washing brush! It wasn't very good. With the first use, the brush became matted. Oh well!

PS Will know if I get my place by the 11th. And I am preapproved for my housing loan. Yippeee!

NOTD: Mini Skittles

Gold, pink and blue!

Faceshop gold 3 coats. Skinfood 1 coat. Rainbow blue 2 coats.

I wanted something to match my hair. I put in bright pink extensions to celebrate my life as it is now. Which is AWESOME!

I love skittles. Don't ya? I say Mini cos I only did 3 colours. And I will take pictures of my hair soon. I need a friend to do it for me.

And as for the apartment?

They took my check. But they haven't banked it in yet. So I will know if my offer has been accepted in 8 days. But bank loan is coming along fine. No issue at all. I'm so thankful.

LIFE IS AWESOME! ^.^

NOTD: In the Garden (Land and air ^.^)

Hi ladies!

I took out the brushes and did some nail art ALL BY MYSELF. Even my right hand. Wah!

I used Revlon Red (2coats) for the ladybugs. PA dark jelly green (4 coats) for the grass.

Cute right? I'm loving it! Even though the bugs are a bit cross eyed.


Then I used a nameless/numberless Rainbow creme blue (2 easy coats)

Tadah! It's a lovely colour.

A bee! It's not original, I saw it on some one's blog a while back and I can't remember who! But it's a great simple idea. I can't believe I drew that bee with my left hand. Not bad considering huh?

So you like? Does anyone else draw funny things on their fingers too? ^^

NOTD: OPI Who the Shrek are you and Catch Me in Your Net

Taken in the shade! I really love Catch Me in Your Net. Goes on smooth and looks beautiful in 2 coats.
Who the Shrek are you is a creme and I found the formula a bit goopy. It is a 3 coater I guess. I did only 2 coats. It really needed the 3rd for eveness but the sun was out and I quickly did my swap list shots. ^^

In full sunlight. My middle finger is getting better but my cuticles are peeling. Again. I miss ONE day of putting cuticle oil and this is my punishment.
