Colours for Spring!

Hi ladies!

Spring has sprung and are you as stoked as I am? I’m not one to adopt every single trend but this season, I’m a follower. Leave the dreariness of Winter behind you and embrace colour.

After watching the Spring runway shows, a few colours and finishes keep reappearing. I give you the 5 MUST-HAVE colours for Spring 2011.

Chanel Riva
Blue, like a robin egg. This bright pop of colour works well with long or short nails. Dark gloomy blues are forbidden! We want to channel the feeling of Easter eggs all ready to be unwrapped and devoured. Great options include China Glaze in For Audrey and Chanel in Riva.

Peach or Persimmon. This delicious colour is suitable for all skin tones! They work especially well when used for a pedicure. To get all dolled up, I recommend Revlon in Siren, China Glaze in Life Preserver or OPI in Hot & Spicy.
Opi Hot & Spicy (Hongkong collection

Purple. Every imaginable shade was seen on the runway, although a lighter lilac would be more appropriate for the office as compared to indigo.  A great lilac would be YSL nail polish in Mauve Silk or Deborah Lippmann in Constant Craving. Darker options include OPI in Plugged-In Plum or RGB in Deep. Warning: If you choose to wear the darker purples, please cut your nails. Long talons look witch-like and scary.
YSL Mauve Silk

Gray. I would declare that dusty gray is THE colour to have this season. I love it and I have been sporting it practically every other day. I am obsessed with Essie in Sew Psyched.  Other excellent options include China Glaze in Magical Romantique, Deborah Lippmann in Waking up in Vegas and Manglaze in Fuggen’ Ugly which is a matte gray.
Waking up in Vegas, Made famous by Lady Gaga :) Always ahead of the trend

Any crackle nail polish topcoat. Not technically a colour but still hot. Just be sure to use contrasting colours so that it pops! Good combinations include (base colour/crackle), pink/black. Blue/yellow. Red/gray. Purple/white.  In the Serena Williams and Katy Perry’s OPI collaboration, there is a crackle nail polish called Black Shatter. Canmake and Mia Secret have a whole range of different colours. Link here for polishes that can be brought online.

I hope this inspires you to try new colours.
Till then, happy polishing!

Super Lucky Nails!

An old Rainbow colour!
In sunlight, 2 coats.
With flash!

And I got my place! :) I brought a 2 bedroom apartment! (^.^) I'm a homeowner and I was wearing this when I gave the cheque.

So yes, loans are settled. I just need to do a bit more paperwork and it will be done.

And bonus pictures

A moth in the gardern. I think it's an atlas moth. It was huge!
Look at this!

And I still can't believe I have a 30 year loan now. >,<

But I'm still happy!

NOTD: Pinky Purple Manicure

Hi ladies!

I promised pics of nails today and I will deliever but my cam didn't save the earlier manicure! *bangs head*
No idea what went wrong...

So I have nails. 3 coats of a Rainbow polish. Pinky purple with red and silver glitter.
But for some reason, it looks blue-purple or burple in the pictures.
It's not an accurate colour. But as usual with rainbow polishes, it glides on like butter.
THAT is the colour. *sigh* I can't work photoshop so this is the best I can do...

But I did go out for durians and mangosteens with my best friend.
The King and Queen of Fruit.
Yum, yum. Don't drop it on your foot. It's an aquired taste. Like blue cheese, but I love it. This is a Malaysian durian, the taste is richer. Those frozen Thai durians are different. I feel they taste bland.
And mangosteens! This bag was $2. And it goes so well with durian. *drools* If you haven't tasted it, you must. I remember going into Harrods (in London) and I saw they were selling these in the food department. 2 medium sized ones for 6 pounds! That was $17 those days. I almost fainted on the spot.
And the aftermath... We have durian sellers here that set up wooden tables and stools. And each table has a BIG basket for the shells and stuff. Ahhhh... Bliss!

NOTD: Purple Flowers

First I applied a single coat of OPI's Done out in Deco.

And a coat of Skinfood. It's a shimmery purple. For some reason I can't upload that photo of the bottle. Bah.
In sun. No flash.
In shade. No flash. 2nd photo blurred to show shimmer and glitter.

Then I employed slave labour, I mean a friend, to paint purple flowers with my paints.

All taken in  shade with no flash. Not bad huh? It was his first time :P

And BYS Fern on my tootises. 2 coats. Formula was a bit drippy and the brush was not great. But I do love the colour. I should have done 3 coats but I'm lazy.

NOTD: OPI Jade is the new black, Rumple Wiggin', Funky Dunkey and TINS (Love) Warning: Feet Pictures

Hellos all! I'm back and will be posting again. I was sick and my job was super crazy. More work, same pay. But I do enjoy what I'm doing most days. I also had to deal with the "all by myself" syndrome. I was swimming in self pity for a while but I'm over it now. We all get like that some times I guess. ^^

Anyway first picture above is OPI Jade is the New Black and some glittery TINS polish. I think it's called Holiday Cheer but don't quote me on that one. I had it done in the shop. I LOVE TINS! It went on smooth. This manicure is about 4 days old so there is tip wear. Taken indoors with flash.
This is 5 days old. Outdoors no flash in sunlight.

And I got my tootises done. So WARNING! FEET PICTURES AHEAD!

The OPI Sherk collection! Dark purple is OPI Funky Dunkey. And the light purple is OPI Rumplin' Wiggin. I didn't catch the movie. I wanted to but by the time I could, it was out of cinemas. Booooooo!

And yes, I brought something naughty.

Guess what?
It's acrylic colours! Yeah! So I'm looking for suckers, I mean volunteers, for me to practice on. I think my Hongie would be a good one. *muah ha ha ha ha ha ha*

And yes, I did notice, I have 78 followers!

I'm putting together a giveaway. I shall let you guys know in just a few days. It's gonna be a pretty one!

NOTD: Voxy Glitter Purple

This polish has the prettiest name. It's called Dancing Fairies. This was taken indoors without flash. And yes, that is my bedroom wall.
Indoors with flash.
Outdoors in natural light.
Voxy has fantastic glitter nail polishes! I love how dense it it. This is just one coat of Voxy! Loads of different sized glitter and it dries really fast. Where is Voxy from? *hmmm*

And why do I have glitter on? I'm going out for a manicure soon.

My friend gave me a voucher for Christmas and it expires today!

So I need to use it. I wonder what colour I'm going for today...

Cheap Nailpolish

These were $1 bottles I found at a pushcart near my place. Look at the close ups of the glitters! The purple is a burple (blue/purple) therefore immposible to photograph accurately.
The black one (which I love) has hints of silver, red and blue glitter. The purple has loads of silver, purple and blue glitter in it.

But, when I cracked open the bottle, I nearly died. It stank! My goodness someone crack open a window!
I have never smelt any polish that smelt that bad.

But was it worth the smell? The brush was easy to use and it was 2 simple coats.

The smell...............................

Yes, this was 2 coats. The black is pretty! The purple needs to be used a topcoat to really let it's beauty shine.
Click for closeups.

^^
But, my goodness, the smell! Thank god we don't have smell-o-vision.

NOTD: OPI Merry Midnight and a bitch

LOVE THIS COLOUR!

I'm redoing it cos I took WAY better photos this time :)

 Pretty flakies in bottle.

3 days wear.

Just a mini grumble now.

I have tried, 3 times to head to the post office this week. Loooooong queues (at least an hours' wait) each time. I lined up to get my package weighed and to buy envelopes/paper package thingies for my giveaway people. Line up, line up. Then when I get to the counter, I realise I left my wallet in the car.

Me: Oh no! I just realised I left my wallet in the car.
Person behind counter (PBC): ... (Silence)
Me: Could I pop out and get it? Serve the others first.
PBC: Next......
(After running down 3 flights of stairs and up again)
Me: I'm back, sorry about that. *huff huff*
PBC: Must line up again one.
Me: ?!?!?!! Please? I waited a long time. And these nice people know I'm not cutting.
PBC: Cannot. Must line up again.
(Note: Line seems longer than before)
Me: Please? Just this once?
PBC: CANNOT LAH. I SAY ALREADY!
Me: Arggggghhhhhh....

So I must venture out again. I'm not happy with the post office. Plus we were told not to post anything to Europe as it would most likely be delayed. Na-duh for why.

Thanks for the rant. Sometimes, people are just mean .>,<

NOTD: Purple Chrome Rainbow

Wow! Just one thin coat of this polish and no top coat in these pictures. Preeeeety!

Seriously, I wonder why I pay S$23 for OPI when this S$2 beauty applies better and look how pigmentated it is! Is any OPI a one-coater? >,< I doubt it.

But I adore this purple-blue and I will be wearing this a lot more often. ^^
