NOTD: Pinky Purple Manicure

Hi ladies!

I promised pics of nails today and I will deliever but my cam didn't save the earlier manicure! *bangs head*
No idea what went wrong...

So I have nails. 3 coats of a Rainbow polish. Pinky purple with red and silver glitter.
But for some reason, it looks blue-purple or burple in the pictures.
It's not an accurate colour. But as usual with rainbow polishes, it glides on like butter.
THAT is the colour. *sigh* I can't work photoshop so this is the best I can do...

But I did go out for durians and mangosteens with my best friend.
The King and Queen of Fruit.
Yum, yum. Don't drop it on your foot. It's an aquired taste. Like blue cheese, but I love it. This is a Malaysian durian, the taste is richer. Those frozen Thai durians are different. I feel they taste bland.
And mangosteens! This bag was $2. And it goes so well with durian. *drools* If you haven't tasted it, you must. I remember going into Harrods (in London) and I saw they were selling these in the food department. 2 medium sized ones for 6 pounds! That was $17 those days. I almost fainted on the spot.
And the aftermath... We have durian sellers here that set up wooden tables and stools. And each table has a BIG basket for the shells and stuff. Ahhhh... Bliss!

MIA and I'm so sorry!

Hi ladies,

Sorry I haven't been posting. I have been house hunting and it is a HORRIBLE process.

Plus, I'm buying it on my own so I'm trying to save every penny.

But who can resist nailpolish? >,<

Anyway, I do have new pictures and I will post it up tonight.

How does anyone survive the house buying process? It's so terrible.

And I was feeling really sad cos I saw this apartment I loved (on Sunday) and I called Monday to view it again, and it was gone! In a day! *sobs*

Ah well. What doesn't kill ya only makes your stronger, no?

And this guy is my favourite makeup guru on Youtube. I heart you Josh!

He does awesome things for Halloween and it's coming up soon! Ooooo

NOTD: (or some at least) The Edge Barcelona

I swapped this with Jen from nailpolish uk. It's an awesome polish. Blue in some lights, green in others. The above picture, I had just a coat on. Plus I was lazy and only painted 3 nails. Although dry time was short, I was too lazy to paint the pinky.
It matches my bed sheets! Again, it's a raining in Singapore. All pictures taken indoors with flash.
The middle finger is how it looks like in most lights.
Note the frosty finish? Yummy!

I like this polish and would deffo do a whole manicure with it. It's just that I'm heading out Friday night and this colour doesnt go with my dress. :)

NOTD: Pink With Black Crackle

I took everyone's advice and swirled the nail polish around after I applied a coat.

It does look much better but this polish I got dries matte. Which is kinda cool.

Please forgive the lighting. It's 1145pm here and it's been raining non-stop the last week. We experienced floods here over the weekend.

Black crackle and a pink un-named Skinfood. I only did one nail to experiment.

Indoors (duh) with flash. The crackle effect is really much nicer! Compared to the streaks I had earlier.

So ladies, to crackle, one must swish.

Review of Sally Hansen's Nail Thickener

Please note, I brought this myself. It was not a gift. I read all about G + L and I think those 'big companies' are just trying to be difficult. We all give honest reviews. Are you gonna put listening devices at Starbucks to see who verbally disses your product? Take the critics and just grow up.

Anyway, this product was kinda meh. Yes, my nails were much harder when it was on. I would say even 10 times harder. But when I cleaned it off, my nails were only marginally harder (2 times).

Pros
  • Does work VERY well when it's on
  • Can be used as a base coat.
  • Dries fast
Cons
  • No miracle in a bottle (but we all know that)
  • Although can be used as a basecoat, I experienced major chipping. Even from my good polishes.
  • Solution is a bit goopy and thick. Hard to manage.
  • When it dries, it remains a little bumpy. Wonder what that it?
So, I haven't painted my nails much last week. I have been feeling a bit down.

One of my really good friends is sick and it's really breaking my heart.
Everytime I look at property, the prices shot up.

*sigh*

But! This week will be better! *positive thinking*

So, here's a really funny video! Argh argh argh ahhhhhh!

NOTD: In the Garden (Land and air ^.^)

Hi ladies!

I took out the brushes and did some nail art ALL BY MYSELF. Even my right hand. Wah!

I used Revlon Red (2coats) for the ladybugs. PA dark jelly green (4 coats) for the grass.

Cute right? I'm loving it! Even though the bugs are a bit cross eyed.

Then I used a nameless/numberless Rainbow creme blue (2 easy coats)

Tadah! It's a lovely colour.
A bee! It's not original, I saw it on some one's blog a while back and I can't remember who! But it's a great simple idea. I can't believe I drew that bee with my left hand. Not bad considering huh?

So you like? Does anyone else draw funny things on their fingers too? ^^

Great days with just a bitch who tried to screw it up *picture heavy*

Hi ladies!

Today is going to be a non-nail related post. I am going to share the good first then the annoying. Despite the name of the post, this really isn't going be a negative 'i-hate-the-world' thing.

Well on Sunday, I took my mom and dad out to the National Museum of Singapore. We had to have lunch first of course so we went to China Town.
This is some random Chinese medicine shop on Smith Street. I know, Smith Street in China Town? Don't ask!
Below is, what we call in Singapore, a wet market. Like a fresh produce market.
So, it's time for lunch at our favourite food stall in China Town. It has been around for ever. My great grand father used to come here and eat. It's home cooked Cantonese food. Yummy! Eating here is one of my earliest memories.
Liver with kai lan, the veg. I don't know the English word for it. The ONLY place I'll eat liver. It's that good.
Home made 'golden coin' tofu with bean sprouts. Super yummy. They ration these things at the stall! They are that popular.
Looks very unattractive. But this is bitter melon/bitter gourd with sliced fish with a black bean sauce. Tastier than it looks.
Everyone knows this. Sweet and sour pork! Glorious crispy melty in the mouth. Home made sauce. *drools*
This is the best sweet and sour pork in Singapore. Dare I say the world?

Evidence of goodness.
Pictures of the first fire station in Singapore. I was in the car so it was pretty hard to take a straight photo.
In car still. I think this is the Stamp Museum.
The entrance of fort canning park. In the middle of a very pretty park.
Inside the National Museum. Look at the ironwork! Isn't it just lovely?
A giant sculpture of a chili. How big you ask?
That's me and my mom! My dad is cam shy so yeah.

It was a great Sunday. We laughed, we talked, we bonded. We went without a single argument. The Museum had an exhibit of Singapore in the 60s. It was really good with my own personal tour guides.

Then night came...

My mom's old friend, let's call her Da Cow, shall we.

She came over and I came to the kitchen to have dinner.

She pointed at me after some forced conversation and said,"Wah you so fat ah! Why don't you join the Biggest Loser?"

I lost it. I really did. I haven't lost my temper in ages and yet, there I was, breaking cups.

You see, since the beginning of this year, I have been on a healthy weight loss thing. It's more for my health. In Jan, I was a size UK14. Now, I am a UK12.

You see, in Singapore, (THE one thing I hate about this place) anything over a size8 is fat.

Fatty fat fat fatty fat.

So god knows where I stand.
And old people think it's their right to comment on your body and weight with no second thought.

If I lost a gram for every time someone said I was fat, I would Kate Moss -20kg. Which is all of her.

Okay, little rant over.

Back to nails soon! I promise. :)

NOTD: Purple Flowers

First I applied a single coat of OPI's Done out in Deco.

And a coat of Skinfood. It's a shimmery purple. For some reason I can't upload that photo of the bottle. Bah.
In sun. No flash.
In shade. No flash. 2nd photo blurred to show shimmer and glitter.

Then I employed slave labour, I mean a friend, to paint purple flowers with my paints.

All taken in  shade with no flash. Not bad huh? It was his first time :P

And BYS Fern on my tootises. 2 coats. Formula was a bit drippy and the brush was not great. But I do love the colour. I should have done 3 coats but I'm lazy.

NOTD: Un-named but not Un-numbered Pink Foil Skinfood

Hi ladies!

I love skinfood. Did I mention it? I was lemming foil polishes at one point, and i realised, NA DUH I already have a few. Its been overcast all day so here a few quick photos. And the number of this is 24QY1. Useful huh? ^.^
Outdoors in overcast sky with flash. 2 coats.
Look at the glow! Pictures are really colour accurate but they don't really capture the complete wonderfulness of foils.
Indoors without flash. Looks flesh toned almost when lighting is dim. It's a bit more pink than this really.

I'm not really a big pink person. In fact, I traditionally shun red and pink polishes on myself. I prefer 'pop' colours ie colours that pop.

So what nail polish do you like on yourself the best?
